There are two Ways that I use.
The Polygon Way:
From SolidWorks save as to STL(*.stl) Format
In the option select the units your working in "Millmeters,inches, etc"
In Maya Make sure the stlImport.mll is loaded in the Plug-in Manager.
File_import_option
Check on Merge vertices with tolerance: the default value of 0.005 work goods.
Import the stl file
/edit Polygons/Normals/Soften/Harden
The NURBS Surface Way: Maya 6.5 Needed
From SolidWorks save as to STEP AP214(*.step) Format
In Maya Make sure the DirectConnect.mll is loaded in the Plug-in Manager.
File Import the *.step file: That all!!
